Welcome to Escapp, an educational platform for conducting escape rooms designed for teachers and students. By using Escapp, you agree to abide by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please refrain from using the platform.

1. General Information

1.1. Escapp is a platform that allows teachers to create and manage educational escape rooms while enabling students to participate and track their progress.

1.2. These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Escapp and its features.

2. User Accounts

2.1. Registration: To use Escapp, users must provide their name, email, and password to create an account.

2.2. Account Responsibility: Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials.

2.3. Account Deletion: Users may request account deletion. Student accounts are removed when the corresponding escape room is deleted by the teacher.

3. Data Collection & GDPR Compliance

3.1. Escapp processes personal data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

3.2. Data Collected: We collect the following data:

• Name and email (for account creation)
• Password (stored securely)
• Escape room progress and grades (to track learning performance)

3.3. Legal Basis for Processing: Data processing is based on research purposes to improve educational experiences.

3.4. Data Storage: User data is securely stored on EU-based servers.

3.5. Data Retention: Data is retained until the teacher deletes the escape room associated with a student’s account.

3.6. User Rights:

• Users may request access, correction, or deletion of their personal data.
• Requests should be made to the teacher who created the escape room where participation occurred.

4. User Conduct & Content

4.1. Prohibited Activities: Users must not engage in:

• Cheating or other dishonest behavior.
• Harassment or abusive communication.
• Unauthorized content uploads (e.g., copyrighted materials without permission).

4.2. User-Generated Content:

• Users may post content, including escape room puzzles and questions.
• Users must comply with copyright laws when posting content.
• Users may select the license for their content, granting others specific usage rights.

4.3. Escapp does not claim ownership of user-generated content but reserves the right to remove content that violates these Terms.

5. Liability & Security

5.1. Service Availability: Escapp does not guarantee uptime or continuous service availability and may undergo maintenance.

5.2. Security Measures: While best efforts are made to secure user data, Escapp does not offer additional security guarantees.

5.3. Liability Disclaimer: Escapp is not responsible for user-generated content, including inaccuracies, violations of copyright, or any harm resulting from it.

6. Legal & Contact Information

6.1. Jurisdiction: These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union (EU).

6.2. GDPR Inquiries: A dedicated contact for data protection inquiries is not yet available. For now, users should direct privacy-related requests to the teacher who created the escape room.
